<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of strain cracks, even under repeated short-time heating and cooling operations, on a current-carrying electrode for pulsed current-carrying pressure sintering and/or joining device, causing a pulse current to flow from an electric source through a material to be treated. <P>SOLUTION: Heat transfer from a material being treated to a current- carrying electrode is cut by a cooling device 7 which is set on the head face of the electrode. The electrode has a cooling fluid channel which is formed in the inside and extended in the longitudinal direction and opens at the head face. The cooling device 7 has a cooling member 71 bonded to the head face 43 of the electrode 4. A cooling route 75 communicating to the cooling fluid channel is formed on the face bonded to the end face of the cooling member. The electrode and the cooling member in the state of being pressed to each other at the interface under a specified pressure are temporarily bonded by causing a DC pulse current with specified voltage and amperage to flow; then, the electrode 4 and the cooling member 71 are properly bonded by a heat treatment under specified conditions in a heat treatment furnace. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
