PURPOSE:To obtain the title zeolite useful for making polymer antibacterial having excellent dispersibility and purity, and consisting of fine powder, by bringing about exchange reaction between zeolite and antibacterial metal ion under a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:The natural or synthetic zeolite having <=10mu particle size is added with an alcohol (e.g., C2H5OH, CH3OH).water mixed soln. contg. one or more kinds of antibacterial metal ion (e.g., sulfate, nitrate) selected from the group consisting of Ag, Cu, Zn, Sn, Pb, Bi, Fe and Cr, thereafter, added with acid (e.g., sulfuric acid, nitric acid) while stirring to adjust the pH value to <=6, and maintained until the ion-exchange capacity of the zeolite of <=90% of theoretical value is replaced by the antibacterial metal. The amt. of alcohol to be used and acidity to be applied are determined according to the kind of the antibacterial metal ion. The zeolite is filtered after the exchange reaction, washed with the alcohol.water mixed soln. or/and alcohol, dried (100-110 deg.C), thereafter as occasion demands, crushed to fine powder, furthermore heated (130-135 deg.C) to regulate water content to <=6%. |
