PURPOSE: A duplex processor construction of a main memory database and a method therefor and synchronization method in the main memory database are provided to guarantee a data consistency between active and standby systems. CONSTITUTION: A DBMS(Database Management System) starting controller(201) manages starting of a main memory DBMS server and determines which role of a master or a slave the DBMS server starts to play. A master functioning unit(202), activated when the main memory DBMS server starts as a master, performs a function or recording and accessing an update log, and generates and manages a log index to perform a prompt access to the update log. A slave functioning unit(203), activated when the main memory DBMS server starts as a slave, performs operations of recording information of update log which has been successfully received lately and searching and changing the information. A storing medium controller(204) performs functions of receiving various data transmitted from the master function unit(202) and the slave functioning unit(203) and recording them in a physical medium.
