PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the auxiliary luminaire of an endoscope capable of emphasizing the uneven state of the surface of the mucous membrane regardless of the distance from an observation window to the surface of the mucous membrane and capable of obtaining a good false coloring matter sprinkling image by image processing. SOLUTION: One light emitting diode or a plurality of light emitting diodes for emitting light toward the lateral region of a flexible shaft 21 are attached to the side surface of the leading end of the flexible shaft 21 freely inserted into and pulled out of the treatment appliance insertion passage of the endoscope 10.
