PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to reduce the thickness of the liquid crystal display device and reduce the manufacturing costs by forming a linear polarizer and a phase difference film inside liquid crystal cells. CONSTITUTION: An absorbing layer(112) is formed on a first substrate. A cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(113) is formed on the absorbing layer. A first electrode(114) is formed on the cholesteric liquid crystal color filter. A second substrate(121) is arranged on the first electrode, being separated at a certain gap. A linear polarizer(123) is formed under the second substrate. A phase difference film(124) is formed under the linear polarizer. A second electrode(122) is formed under the second substrate. A liquid crystal layer(130) is interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode.
