PURPOSE: A process of preparing a beverage by mixing flowers of Rhododendron mucronulatum Turcz. var. mucronulatum with honey is provided. Therefore, the beverage contains a characteristic taste and flavor of Rhododendron mucronulatum as well as a physiological component beneficial to the human health. CONSTITUTION: Rhododendron mucronulatum is mixed with honey syrup in a ratio of 1:3 and aged in a closed vessel at 2 to 7deg.C for 3 to 4 months. Thereafter, the aged liquid is mixed with purified water in a ratio of 1:5, filtered and centrifuged to produce a clear aged liquid. The produced clear aged liquid is sterilized at 85 to 98deg.C for 100 to 300sec. A mixture of 10 to 20% by weight of sugar, 0.05 to 0.3% by weight of citric acid, 0.005 to 0..02% by weight of caramel and 0.1 to 1% by weight of vitamin C is used with purified water in the process to obtain the clear aged liquid.
