The sorting installation for packaging fragile objects into containers (5) comprises a rotating table (2) receiving the objects. There are first conveyors (13) for placing the objects on the table. A second conveyor (4) transports the containers. The rotating table engages a chute (7) which extends from the table periphery to above the containers placed on the second conveyor located below the table so that the objects placed on the table can be evacuated into the chute and be taken by an operator (6) and placed in the container. An Independent claim is included for a method of using the installation.
