SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SIMULATING FILL FLASH IN PHOTOGRAPHY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for simulating fill flash when photographing with a digital camera capable of obtaining the similar effect to that by daylight synchronization without using a flash.

SOLUTION: The digital camera takes a series of photographs of a scene at various focus distances without using an electronic flash. The photographs are taken by focusing to positions at different distances from the camera. The photographs are stored, along with their corresponding focus distances. Detecting the distance to objects at various locations of the scene calculates the luminance of the objects in the case with daylight synchronization to correct the luminance of the objects in the photographed scene.
