PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rectangular wave signal generation device which can easily generate the rectangular wave signal of a pattern.

SOLUTION: A bit string which serves as the duty of desired on-time and off-time is generated. The bit string is considered as a binary code and the corresponding character string of the code is selected. The selected character string is outputted from a serial communication circuit. A signal outputted from the serial communication circuit which serves as the rectangular wave signal constituted of the desired on-time and off-time.
