PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety household electric appliance remote control system via a network by which a household electric appliance can be remote-controlled through the communication network. SOLUTION: With a request from a user (S259), an optional password ('111', e.g.) is generated, registered as the first-time password of this portable telephone set 300 (S260), and given to the portable telephone set 300 (S261). After retaining the received first-time password (S262), the portable telephone set 300 access a Web page for controlling the household electric appliance 340b through a portable telephone set GW 310 by using the first-time password (S263 to S264). In the case of possitively authenticating this access (S265), the Web server 330 issues a password to be used for the next access and transmits it to the portable telephone set 300 (S266). After accessing the Web server 330 by using the next-time password and obtaining authentication, the portable telephone set 300 can remote control the household electric appliance 340b (S267 to S270).
