PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set where a picture to be displayed can be varied by rotating a set main body. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set comprises an XY biaxial geomagnetic sensor 110 for detecting the direction of the set main body, an operation input part 106 for setting an operation mode, a ROM 102 in which picture data is stored, a display part 118 for displaying various kinds of data, and a CPU 100 which controls the set to fetch the detected output of the XY biaxial geomagnetic sensor 110 in the case of being set to a prescribed mode by the operation input part 106, to read the picture data stored in the ROM 102 based on the detected output, to perform prescribed conversion processing to the picture data and to display a picture shown by the picture data obtained by the conversion processing on the display part 118.
