METHOD FOR EVALUATING QUALITY OF STRUCTURAL STEEL IN THICKNESS DIRECTION

PURPOSE: A method for evaluating quality of a structural steel is provided to effectively evaluate characteristics of the structural steel in a thickness direction thereof by creating a breakage at a thickness center of the structural steel when performing a tensile test. CONSTITUTION: A sample piece(10), which is broken through a tensile test, is cut in such a manner that a sectional area of the sample piece(10) exceeds 2000mm¬2. A U-shaped or V-shaped notch is formed at the center of the sample piece(10) in such a manner that the center of the sample piece(10) is broken while carrying out the tensile test. An auxiliary plate is welded to the sample piece(10) through an electric beam welding process such that a breakage occurs at the U-shaped or V-shaped notch, thereby evaluating characteristics of the sample piece(10) in a thickness direction thereof.
