<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a process definition even when a work flow system is operating. <P>SOLUTION: In every process instance, it is checked whether or not its execution is proceeding past a transition point of the worst case, and if the execution has not passed the transition point, the process definition in the process instance is changed.
