PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an organic EL display 51 capable of displaying multicolors. SOLUTION: Four pixels, PIX-A, PIX-B, PIX-C, and PIX-D are provided, in correspondence with which, color filters 2A, 2B, 2C are provided. Further provided are a positive electrode 4, a hole transport layer 5, a pigment doping layer 6 patterned in stripe in a plane direction of the pixels, a luminous layer 7, an electron transport layer 8, and a negative electrode 9, and two colors of self-emitting light are made generated from two areas of a luminous area consisting of the luminous area alone in one pixel and a luminous area where the pigment doping layer 6 and the luminous layer 7 are overlapped. If the pixel is visually confirmed, each displayed color for pixels PIX-A to C is a mixture of two light colors transmitted through each color filter, and for the pixel PIX-D, white light generated by mixture of the two light colors is visualized as it is.
