PURPOSE: A method for controlling a soft handover path in a mobile communication network is provided to set SVC connections in RNCs(Radio Network Controllers) during soft handover between the RNCs, and to previously set PVC connections in a G(Global)-RNC, thereby reducing connection setup time to supply a high-speed soft handover function. CONSTITUTION: An LIM(Link Interface Module)-N resource management processor dynamically selects usable connection identifiers among VPIs/VCIs included in an RNC of the other party, and sets connections(601). The RNC sets an operation management message path(602). A loading path is set to a basic value determined in an ATM interface, and preparation for processing a connection control request from an application program is completed(603). An LIM-N sets cells in a bypass mode(604). A G-RNC completes a connection setup function(605), and enables a remote operation management message and a control message to be transmitted(606).
