PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump system in which a hot water of relatively high temperature, such as more than 35°C is supplied to a cooling side heat exchanger of the heat pump system provided with the cooling side heat exchanger and a heating side heat exchanger, and a hot water which is low in condensation pressure and high in effluent hot water temperature, such as more than 60°C, is obtained. SOLUTION: In a refrigeration cycle comprising a compressor 2, a condenser, an evaporator and the like, the condenser is selected as a heat exchanger 20 for hot water supply, and the evaporator is selected as a heat exchanger 30 for cooling/heating water. An intake pressure regulating valve 15 is interposed in a refrigerant return pipe 12 contiguous to the compressor 2, and overload of the compressor 2 is prevented by the intake pressure regulating valve 15. An area of heat-transfer surface, size, and supercooling degree of the heat exchanger 20 for hot water supply are properly determined such that, under a condition that the condensation pressure is equal to or less than an allowable pressure, the hot water of more than 35°C can be supplied to the heat exchanger 20 for hot water supply, and the hot water in which the effluent hot water temperature is more than 60°C can be obtained.
