PURPOSE: A device and method for recording log data is provided to chase an illegally connected person, recover a changed or damaged system, and manage log data by storing the log data according to a person connected to a server from an exterior in real time, and preventing an illegal edition. CONSTITUTION: A mode switching unit(410) outputs a mode switching signal according as a server computer manager selects an edition prevention mode or a normal mode selection. A control unit(420) generates a control signal in accordance with a write command of log data being generated by an action of users connected to the server computer or a read/edition command of specific log data by a request of a user. The control unit(420) outputs the control signal to an exterior, and outputs specific log data being inputted from an exterior in accordance with a read command of a user to the corresponding user. A mode switching control unit(430) includes a control program for processing a read/write command or a write/read/edition command of log data. If a control signal in according to a write/read command is inputted after setting an edition prevention mode, the mode switching control unit(430) stores and extracts log data of each user based on the control signal. If a control signal is inputted in accordance with an edition command, the mode switching control unit(430) generates an error interrupt signal, changes a write position value, and stores the value in a space. A storage(440) stores log data of each user in accordance with a control signal, log data, and a mode switching signal being inputted from the mode switching control unit(430), or extracts specific log data, and outputs the data to the mode switching control unit(430).
