<p>During a printing process a paper web drags a boundary layer of air towards the print cylinder inlet zone. The boundary layer (8) is removed or reduced esp. by an assembly (6) which either reduces air pressure in the cylinder inlet zone (ZE) and has a counter-blower (12) discharging hot air and/or steam (10) against the direction of web (2) travel. The assembly (6) has a further steam jet (16) directed in the direction of web motion and towards the cylinder (4), into the inlet zone (ZE). The assembly further has a boundary layer scraper blade (20) located immediately prior to the blower (12) and/or steam jet (16).</p> |
