The pipe bending device (10) has a bending mold (21) with a recess (31) for the pipe (20). The recess is made to the shape of the required bent pipe. The pipe lies either side of the recess, with a region at or close to the neutral fibers of the tube. The angle ( phi ) between the bending plane and the tangential surface of the tube region is not more than 20 deg .preferably 8-12 deg .
