Production of printed document such as newspaper, from multiple files containing page data, by creating cluster file from associated input files and storing in memory before transmission to printer

The files are received by a print processing system, and are stored in a logical input memory region of the system. A test program module is used to determine which input files are to be formed into a cluster file comprising multiple input files. A combination program module is used to create the cluster file from the associated input files, and store it in a logical cluster memory region. The cluster file is transmitted to a printing apparatus for signature-wise output. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of printing a newspaper or magazine; (2) a system for performing the method; (3) a printing production system; and (4) a computer program product.
