PURPOSE: A method for preparing a thermoplastic resin is provided, to improve the residence thermal stability at a high temperature and to enhance whiteness by preventing yellowing. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding 10-40 parts by weight of a mixture of an aromatic vinyl monomer and an unsaturated nitrile monomer, an emulsifier, a chelating agent and an oxidation-reduction initiator to 30-60 parts by weight of a polybutadiene latex to firstly graft polymerize them; adding 20-50 parts by weight of a mixture of an aromatic vinyl monomer and an unsaturated nitrile monomer and an oxidation-reduction initiator to the obtained one to secondly graft polymerize them; and adding 0.01-1 wt% of an antioxidizing agent to the obtained emulsion to solidify it as a metal salt or an acid, wherein the oxidation-reduction initiator is a mixture of hydroperoxide-based and peroxyester-based initiators and its content is 0.2-0.6 parts by weight and the antioxidizing agent is a mixture of thiophenol-based and thioester-based antioxidizing agents.
