PURPOSE: A method for backing up data on a network and a portable phone implementing the same are provided to enable a user to back up data stored in the portable phone in a server of the network, so as to easily back up and restore the data if the data are lost. CONSTITUTION: Data provided from a portable phone and data generated by a portable phone user are stored in a memory(S300). If a data backup menu is selected among menus configured to perform data backup, a screen for selecting backup data is displayed to transmit the selected backup data(S310,S320,S330). The selected backup data are transmitted and stored in a data backup server through a network(S340). If the portable phone requests the backup data stored in the data backup server, the backup data are transmitted to the portable phone from the data backup server through the network. And the transmitted backup data are stored in the memory and restored.
