PURPOSE: A heating and cooling air conditioner with dual outdoor heat exchangers is provided to increase operation efficiency of a cycle by varying heat exchange capacity of the outdoor heat exchanger. CONSTITUTION: A heating and cooling air conditioner with dual outdoor heat exchangers(35,39) includes indoor units(11a-11n), outdoor units(13a-13n), and a control unit. The outdoor unit has a casing(23) for forming a housing space inside; a compressor(27) arranged inside the casing; the first and second outdoor heat exchangers radiating a refrigerant compressed by the compressor in a cooling mode and making the refrigerant from the compressor selectively flow; a four-way valve(47) connected to the discharge side of the compressor, to switch a passage of the refrigerant so that the compressed refrigerant flows to one of the first and second outdoor heat exchangers and indoor unit; a first electronic expansion valve(51) arranged to the outflow side of the first outdoor exchanger, to control flow; and a second electronic expansion valve(53) arranged to the outflow side of the second outdoor heat exchanger, to control flow. The control unit controls the four-way valve and the first and second electronic expansion valves. Accordingly, the heat exchange capacity of the outdoor heat exchanger is varied and the operation efficiency of the cycle is improved.
