摘要 PURPOSE: A Ziegler-Natta catalyst useful in solution processes for the polymerization of olefins having a low amount of aluminum and magnesium is provided which is effective for the solution polymerization of olefins at high temperatures by containing an alkyl silanol and having a molar ratio of Si:Ti from 0.25:1 to 4:1. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst consists essentially of a mixture of: (i) a magnesium compound of the formula (R¬2)2Mg wherein R¬2 is a C1-6 alkyl radical; (ii) an alkyl aluminum compound of the formula (R¬1)3-aAl¬1(OR¬5)a and, wherein R¬1 and R¬5 are independently selected from the group consisting of C1-4 alkyl radicals and a is 0 or 1; (iii) a silicon containing compound of the formula I, where each A is independently selected from the group consisting of C1-10 alkyl radicals; C1-10 alkoxide radicals; C6-12 aryl radicals; C6-12 aryl oxide radicals; and a hydroxy radical, B is selected from the group consisting of divalent C1-4 alkyl radicals and divalent C6-12 aryl radicals which is unsubstituted or up to fully substituted by one or more C1-4 alkyl radicals, D is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, C1-10 alkyl radicals; C1-10 alkoxide radicals; C6-12 aryl radicals; C6-12 aryl oxide radicals; an amine radical or the formula NR¬9R¬10 where R¬9 and R¬10 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom; a hydroxyl radical; a C1-4 alkyl radical; a radical of the formula SO2CF3; a radical of the formula SO2C6F5; a radical of the formula S-R¬9 where R¬9 is as defined above; a radical of the formula OSO2R¬11 wherein R¬11 is selected from the group consisting of C1-10 alkyl radicals, and C6-12 aryl radicals, a hydrogen atom; or a group 1, 2 or 3 metal, each R¬8 is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a C1-4 alkyl radical, a C1-4 alkoxide radical, a C6-12 aryl radical; a C6-12 aryl oxide radical; w is an integer from 1 to 3, x is 0 or 1, and y is 0 or 1, provided the silicon compound contains a functional group or atom which reacts with the above aluminum compound; (iv) a halide of the formula R¬3X, wherein R¬3 is a C1-4 alkyl radical and x is a halide selected from the group consisting of chlorine and bromine; (v) titanium tetrachloride, to provide a molar ratio of Mg to Al¬1 from 4.0:1 to 6:1; Mg:Ti from 4 to 6; a molar ratio of Al¬1 to Ti from 0.5:1 to 3:1; a molar ratio of halide to Mg from 1.8:1 to 2.4:1; a molar ratio of Si:Ti from 0.5:1 to 3:1 and a molar ratio of Al¬1:Si from 0.5:1 to 3:1; and (vi) optionally an alkyl aluminum compound of the formula (R¬4)3-bAl¬2(OR¬7)b, wherein R¬4 and R¬7 are independently selected from the group consisting of C1-4 alkyl radicals and b is 1 or 0 to provide: a molar ratio of Al¬2 to Ti from 0:1 to 5:1.
