PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool with a bar feeder, capable of performing efficient machining work, even if a bar material on a certain work runs short, by machining another workpiece when machining can be performed for the workpiece. SOLUTION: This machine tool is provided with machining performing means 22 in which machining schedule information MS storing the type WNO, number, machining order OR of a workpiece to be machined is stored, and according to the machining order, machining for the workpiece is performed by the machine tool. The machine tool is provided with a machinable workpiece retrieval and determination means (step S2 to step S9), whereby in the course of machining, when the bar material runs short during feeding bars and it is decided that the workpiece cannot be machined for the number designated by machining schedule information, machining for the workpiece is suspended, and the machining schedule information is retrieved to determine whether there is any machinable workpiece other than the subject workpiece or not. Concerning the workpiece determined to be machined, bar materials are supplied by the bar feeder to perform machining for the workpiece. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
