631,323. Electric ovens. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J., and SCOTT, H. J. Sept. 4, 1946, No. 26594. [Classes 39(iii) and 126] A heat-insulated oven provided with a door comprises a heating chamber separated from the outer walls, at the sides, by chambers open to the front of the heating chamber and containing air heating elements and at the rear by a fan chamber having deflecting plates which radiate from a fan which circulates air continuously between the deflecting plates, across the heating elements, from front to back of the heating chamber, and through air distribution regulating openings at the back of the heating chamber to the suction side of the fan. In the form described electrical air heating elements 15 are located in the chambers 5 at the sides of the heating chamber which is fitted with removable containers slidable on runners and provided with cover plates fixed to the runners. The door 2 of the oven when closed is sealed at the edges by sealing strips 3 and when open is held in a horizontal position by a linkage 2a. Air is continuously circulated within the oven by a fan 7 under the control of an electric motor. Air forced into the side chambers 5 from the fan chamber 6 is evenly distributed by deflecting vanes 18b at the rear of the backplate of the heating chamber. After passing across the heating elements 15 in the sidechamber 5 the heated air is drawn from the front to the back of the heating chamber and reaches the fanchamber 6 again by way of louvred openings in the backplate of the heating chamber, these openings being of different areas so that all parts of the heating chamber become evenly heated. The heating of the oven is controlled by a timeswitch in conjunction with a thermostat and warning lights are provided to indicate the failure of the heating elements 15. Specification 616,570 is referred to.
