PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring apparatus and a measuring method in which handling or measuring processing is facilitated while being hardly affected by wear or contamination by exactly measuring the parameters of medical fluids from a value depending on the extent of a measuring chamber for guiding the medical fluids such as extracorporeally circulating blood in hemodialytic treatment. SOLUTION: A disposable cassette (9) having a measuring chamber (15) is inserted to the measuring apparatus comprising a receiving chamber for a dialyzer. The measuring apparatus is provided with a measuring element for measuring a value depending on the extent (25) of the measuring chamber (15) in a measuring direction as a value for finding the parameters of the medial fluids or a value in a fixed relationship with the parameters. In a measuring region (22) of the measuring apparatus, a distance sensor part (24) provided with a permanent magnet (18) and a magnetoresistance sensor (20) facing this permanent magnet is disposed, and the permanent magnet (18) and the magnetoresistance sensor (20) are so arranged that the distance (23) between them changes in response to the extent (25) of the measuring chamber (15).
