PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device for a pile head part capable of damping and isolating seismic force inputted to a ground structure from a foundation pile, in either direction of horizontal movement and vertical movement. SOLUTION: A metal plate 3 of low frictional force is placed on the head edge of a pile 2 driven into the ground, and a vibration damping fitting 4 is fitted to the head part of the pile 2. A disk-shaped elastic body 5 is built in between the metal plate 3 and the inside of the vibration damping fitting 4, and a cylindrical elastic body 6 is built in between the periphery of the pile 2 and the inside of the vibration damping fitting 4. Horizontal shake is absorbed by the cylindrical elastic body 6, and vertical shake is absorbed by the disk- shaped elastic body 5. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
