ASPERGILLUS-DERIVED GLUCAN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain (1→3)-β-D-glucan which has high sensitivity to a (1→3)-β-D- glucan detection reagent and properties of further promoting production of IL-8 to mononucleosis or polymorphonuclear neutrophil existing in human peripheral blood. SOLUTION: This (1→3)-β-D-glucan is obtained by oxidizing a cell body of a fungus belonging to the genus Aspergillus under an alkali condition, recovering a fraction insoluble in the reaction solution after the oxidation treatment and further removing a fraction insoluble in an aprotic polar solvent from the fraction.
