PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably maintain the smooth movements of movable parts such as a magnet 5 by devising the arrangement of the magnet 5 and suppressing the adhesion of foreign matter to the magnet 5 in a fuel level gauge 1, a liquid level detecting apparatus. SOLUTION: In a body 2, a bearing part 2a is formed approximately into the shape of a hole with a bottom, and a shaft 4 is formed approximately into the shape of a cylinder with a bottom coaxially with the bearing part 2a and fitted in the bearing part 2a with its open end side directed to the body 2. The magnet 5 is opposed and mounted to the body 2 on the inner diameter side than the outer circumferential surface 4a of the shaft 4. By this, since it is possible to cut off the magnet 5 from the outside and suppress the adhesion of foreign matter such as metal powder mixed in a fuel to the magnet 5, it is possible to prevent the fixation of the movable parts such as the magnet 5 and the shaft 4 and maintain the smooth rotation of the movable parts such as the magnet 5 and the shaft 4.
