PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk player which displays quickly the signal reproduced from a disk-shaped recording medium on a display means and also in which the cut of sound and the interruption of a picture display immediately after the starting of reproduction are made to be hardly generated. SOLUTION: In a mini disk device, this disk player is provided with a reproducing head 13, a buffer memory 33 storing the output of the reproducing head, a means 71 measuring the average writing rate of the buffer memory, a decoding means 35 decoding the digital information stored in the buffer memory and an amount of stored data setting means 75 setting the amount of data of digital information to be stored in the buffer memory before the decoding means starts the decoding of the digital information in accordance with the average writing rate.
