PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate unnecessary calculation of a correlation value as much as possible at a low contrast, and to prevent incorrect ranging by calculating a distance of a ranging object only when AF data in a pair of window ranges have a contrast where the highest correlation is obtained by the calculation of the correction value. SOLUTION: Whether a pair of AF data obtained from a pair of applied sensors have a predetermined contrast necessary for ranging is determined (Steps S250 and S252). The correlation value is calculated only when a contrast is existing (Step S256). Then, whether AF data of a pair of window ranges where the highest correlation is obtained by the correlation value calculation has the predetermined contrast necessary for ranging is determined (Steps S258 and S260).
