PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound reproducing device capable of preventing develop ment of unusual sound in initializing the control portion of the sound reproduc ing device, for example, a microprocessor. SOLUTION: The sound reproducing device is provided with a sound signal source 1 for outputting a sound signal, a power amplifier 4 for power-amplifying the sound signal from the sound signal source 1, a mute means for interrupting the sound signal to the power amplifier 4 from the sound signal source 1, and a control means for executing control, including a mute control function for controlling the sound signal interruption operation of the mute means. The control means is provided with a reset signal generating means for generating a reset signal for helping the control means to execute initialization, and a mute generating means responding to the reset signal from the reset signal generating means to help the mute means to execute the sound signal interruption operation before starting initialization operation by the control means.
