PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external member and a composite member with excellent quality of their appearance such that when the members are connected to other members, their connections are kept out of view from the outside. SOLUTION: The external member 2 includes a cylindrical external member body 4, and a plurality of ribs 6 which are formed in circumferentially spaced apart relationship to extend in the axial direction of the external member body 4 and abut a core 3 inserted inside the external member body 4. The external member body 4 is provided with a plurality of hollow sections 7 extending in the axial direction of the external member body 4 and arranged in circumferentially spaced apart relationship.
