PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of easily fireproofing a steel structure at low cost and fireproofing hardware. SOLUTION: The method of fireproofing a steel structure includes clamping a lower flange 5 of a steel beam 4 with a clamping piece 6 from top and bottom to mount pieces of fireproofing hardware 1 at appropriate intervals, inserting a closure plate 7 into an insertion part 3 provided at the rear of the clamping piece 6 to close a gap 10 between the steel beam 4 and an external wall 9, and spraying a rock wool spraying material 11 to the surfaces of the steel beam 4 and the closure plate 7.
