PURPOSE: A catalyst for purifying automobile exhaust gas is provided which maintains high combustion efficiency of particulate matter and inhibits oxidation of sulfur dioxide at the same time. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst comprises first honeycomb on which platinum and copper supported silicon dioxide is coated; second honeycomb on which silver, copper and manganese supported titanium dioxide is coated; and third honeycomb on which palladium and rhodium supported silicon dioxide is coated, wherein the first to third honeycombs are sequentially arranged, wherein 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% of platinum and 5 to 15 wt.% of copper are contained in the first honeycomb based on the weight of silicon dioxide, wherein 3 to 7 wt.% of silver, 1 to 5 wt.% of copper and 1 to 5 wt.% of manganese are contained in the second honeycomb based on the weight of titanium dioxide, wherein 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% of palladium and 0.2 to 0.7 wt.% of rhodium are contained in the third honeycomb based on the weight of silicon dioxide, wherein the first honeycomb shows high activity when burning SOF (soluble organic fraction) in the automobile exhaust gas, wherein the second honeycomb shows high activity when burning soot in the automobile exhaust gas, and wherein the third honeycomb shows high activity when burning hydrocarbons in the automobile exhaust gas.
