The tracking system uses a terminal (5) carried by the passenger communicating with a tracking server (1) through the mobile telephone network (3). The parameters associated with departure and arrival are recorded as the passenger enters and leaves stations. The journey time can then be computed and if outside a set threshold, a compensation procedure can be automatically triggered.
