<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical termination system and method equipped with an optical path switching function. <P>SOLUTION: This optical termination system is provided with a switching means capable of optically terminating an optical cable constituted like a ring for transmitting an optical signal and at least one optical transmitter so that the optical signal to be transmitted through the optical cable can be connected/ disconnected with/from the optical transmitter. When the optical transmitter is normally operated, the switching means switches the optical path so that the optical signal can be transmitted to the optical transmitter, and when the optical transmitter is not normally operated, the switching means switches the optical path so that any optical signal can be prevented from being transmitted to the optical transmitter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
