<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an exhaust gas recirculation device while improving the exhaust gas recirculation rate. <P>SOLUTION: A butterfly valve 14 as an exhaust gas recirculation valve opening and closing an exhaust gas recirculation passage 13 according to an engine operating condition is installed on a roughly straight portion formed on the exhaust gas recirculation passage 13 communicating a suction manifold 11a and an exhaust manifold 12A. Consequently, it is not necessary to bend a portion of the exhaust gas recirculation passage 13 where the exhaust gas recirculation valve is installed and the increase of flow resistance due to the bent is suppressed. Since the opening degree of the butterfly valve 14 is large, the increase of pressure loss of the recirculation exhaust gas can be suppressed by the exhaust gas recirculation valve installed on the exhaust gas recirculation passage 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
