It is intended to provide a blood cell separation system whereby rare embryo-origin nuclear cells contained in the blood of a pregnant woman can be precisely separated and concentrated to conveniently give test specimens usable in prenatal chromosome/gene diagnosis. Namely, a blood cell separation system which comprises (1) a separation unit whereby anucleate erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets are mainly eliminated from a blood specimen collected from a pregnant woman to give a primarily separated specimen; (2) a secondary separation unit whereby anucleate erythrocytes and leukocytes remaining in the primarily separated specimen obtained by the above-described unit are eliminated by using the sugar chain-lectin method to thereby give a secondly separated specimen having concentrated embryo nucleated cells; and (3) a sampling unit whereby the secondly separated specimen obtained by the secondarily separating unit is sampled.
