PURPOSE: To provide a flat display in which uniform luminance having no unevenness can be obtained. CONSTITUTION: This is a flat display that comprises an outer case which includes a front glass 103 of which at least a part is translucent and a glass substrate 101 arranged opposed to the front glass 103 and the inside is evacuated, a cathode 110 which is arranged on the glass substrate 101 in this outer case, a gate electrode 121 arranged separated from this cathode 110, and a metal-back membrane 106 and phosphor films 105B, 105G, 105R arranged in lamination on the opposed face to the glass substrate 101 of the front glass 103. The cathode 110 is constructed of a mesh type metal member 111 arranged on the glass substrate 101 and an electron emitting part 112 made of a conductive membrane including carbon nano tubes that is filled in the mesh type openings of this mesh type metal member 111.
