Transition metal compounds having hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated monocyclic, bicyclic or polycyclic ligands, are prepared by introducing an unsaturated monocyclic, bicyclic or polycyclic transition metal compound and a hydrogen into a static mixer in the presence of a suitable solubilizer and a catalyst.
