The apparatus for the automatic preparation of a cooled sample fluid, to be taken by an automatic multi-pipette system (26), has a bottle cooling unit (1) to hold a bottle of the sample fluid to be chilled. A dosing unit (2) transfers the fluid from the bottle into a supply trough (3), fitted with cooling elements. A transport mechanism (22) moves the supply trough to and fro between positions under the bottle cooling station and under the pipettes.
