PURPOSE: A valve system for an engine is provided to improve a fuel consumption ratio of an engine by reducing frictional resistance of the engine through minimizing driving torque of the valve system at a low speed driving range of the engine. CONSTITUTION: A valve system includes a cylinder head(10). An intake/exhaust valve(11) is installed on the cylinder head(10). A valve spring(12) is installed at one side of the intake/exhaust valve(11) in order to open/close the intake/exhaust valve(11). The valve spring(12) is filled up with MR fluid(12a). An electromagnet(20) surrounds the valve spring(12) so as to apply magnetic field to the valve spring(12) in such a manner that intensity of the valve spring(12) is varied. A crank position sensor(30) is provided at a cylinder block of the valve spring(12) in order to sense an R.P.M of the engine. An ECU(50) is provided to determine voltage applied to the electromagnet(20) by reading data of a map(40).
