PURPOSE: A method for operating a medical imaging diagnostic apparatus is provided to allow fast action in, among other things, the framework of progress monitoring. CONSTITUTION: A method for operating a medical diagnostic apparatus comprises a steps of in an examination(20), placing a region of an examination subject in an imaging volume of a diagnostic apparatus and obtaining a first dataset of the region of interest by operating the diagnostic apparatus with a first set of operating parameters, and storing the first set of operating parameters and the first dataset, and in a follow-up examination, after the examination(30), again placing the region of interest in the imaging volume, and obtaining a follow-up dataset of the region of interest by operating the diagnostic apparatus with the stored, first set of operating parameters, and storing the follow-up dataset.
