PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device for a belt-shaped film capable of highly accurately positioning the belt-shaped film without affected by the transparency of the belt-shaped film and printing states of an identification mark. SOLUTION: This positioning device for the belt-shaped film is provided with a pulse controllable first servomotor, light projecting means irradiating a detection light, a light receiving part 41d outputting an output value LvA corresponding to the received light quantity, and an A/D converter 43 converting the output value LvA to a digital output valve Lv. The belt-shaped film is fed at high speed, or a first speed Vv1, till the tip of a first register mark (a) starts to be stacked on a light receiving surface 41e, the film is fed at a low speed, or speed Vv2, so that the whole surface of the light receiving surface 41e is approximately stacked on the mark (a), the film 6 is minutely fed by a prescribed pulse Pv3 in a range where a part of the mark 1 is stacked on the light receiving surface 41e, and the film 6 is transferred by a repeated pulse number Pv3 till the output value Lv after the transfer exceeds a threshold Lv0.
