PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for winding a material to be processed capable of appropriately winding the material to avoid the influence caused by the tip end portion of the material. SOLUTION: In a winding device for winding the material 1 to be processed composed of rolling materials extended in the longitudinal direction and derived from the rolling mill 2 at a prescribed winding torque on the peripheral surface of a drum 3 by making the tip end portion as the inner side, the winding device is provided with a device 9 for detecting the tip end position of the rolling material to detect the tip end position 1a of the material 1 and, in accordance with the position detection of the tip end 1b of the material 1 1b by the device for detecting the tip end position of the rolling material 9, the winding device beings to operate and the winding torque of the material 1 to the drum 3 is decreased, and an electric current common value computing unit 6 and an electric motor driving device 5 that prevent pressure welding force are provided, when the tip end portion 1a of the material 1 abuts on the revolution inner face 1b of the material 1.
