<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring method for activity of catalase, especially to provide a method of discriminating the period of death of an insect by using the value of the residual activity of the catalase as an index. <P>SOLUTION: (1) The method which measures the remaining activity of the catalase in a sample by contacting the sample originating from an organism with hydrogen peroxide and then measuring decrease of the hydrogen peroxide, the method measuring the decrease of the hydrogen peroxide detects an electrochemical reaction responding to change of the amount of the hydrogen peroxide. (2) The method discriminating the period of death of the insect by measuring the remaining activity of the catalase by contacting a dead insect or an extract of the insect with a low concentration hydrogen peroxide and then measuring decrease of the hydrogen peroxide, the method measuring the decrease of the hydrogen peroxide measures change of current responding to changes of the concentration of the hydrogen peroxide in the sample by using a hydrogen peroxide meter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
