<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst having both of high activity and high peel strength. <P>SOLUTION: In the exhaust gas cleaning catalyst consisting of a metal catalyst carrier having a large number of through-holes and the catalyst layer comprising inorganic fibers and a catalyst component applied to the carrier, the catalyst layer comprising the inorganic fibers and the catalyst component comprises a first catalyst layer covering the vicinity of the carrier and a second catalyst layer covering other part, and the content of the inorganic fibers and/or SiO<SB>2</SB>and/or the length value of the inorganic fibers in the first catalyst layer are larger than those of the second catalyst layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
