<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus that has improved accuracy in the detection of a specific image formation parameter of an image formation substance. <P>SOLUTION: An image characteristic detection method used for the color image forming apparatus having image forming means which sequentially form images one on another has a base image formation process for forming a base image onto a recording medium by the specific image forming means, a detection image formation process for additionally forming a detection image by the image forming means by overlaying it on the base image, and an image characteristic detection process for detecting the image characteristic of the detection image by an image characteristic detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
